Lot Essay

Churchill was a regular guest of the Duke of Westminster during the 1920s at Mimizan, his house at Landes near Bordeaux. The present work is from a series of views of the house and was given by Churchill to the Rt. Hon. David Lloyd George towards the end of the 1920s while Churchill served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in Stanley Baldwin's Conservative Government.
