In a letter of 25 December 1967 Professor Roberto Longhi attributed the present panel to Agnolo Gaddi. Professor Miklós Boskovits, however, has informed us that, judging from a transparency, he considers it the work of a distinct hand whom he has christened 'The Master of Carmignano'. The artist's name work is an Annunciation in the Church of San Michele at Carmignano which reveals the influence of Lorenzo Monaco as well as that of Agnolo Gaddi
