The present bust of the goddess Diana is a reduction of the full-length marble Antique figure known as Diane Chasseresse in the Louvre. The original depicts the goddess with a stag, and was one of the most celebrated Antique statues. It was widely reproduced in a variety of sizes and materials from the second half of the 18th century, though the best known copy in England dates from 1634 and was made for Charles I by Hubert Le Sueur, and is now at Windsor Castle.
