CABROL, Barthelemy (b. circa 1525). Ontleedingh des menschelycken lichaems. Revised and translated into Dutch by V.F. Plemp. Amsterdam: Gillis Joosten for Hendricks Laurents, 1648.

2° (295 x 196mm.). Engraved title, 4 double-page plates, 122 engraved illustrations. (Tear to outer margin of B5 just affecting text, light dampstain to first 5 leaves, some slight soiling.) Contemporary Dutch blindstamped vellum (slightly soiled). Provenance: Van der Hoeven (bookplate, sale Sotheby's July 20 1984 lot 415 #1050.)

This work was first published in 1633 and is an elaboration (and translation) of Cabrol's Alphabet anatomic written in about 1594. Plemp has left the text reasonably intact, but has inserted addenda to the end of each chapter. The majority of the fine plates and illustrations had appeared in earlier works.
