Lot Essay

The cow's ears and the shrine headdress suggest this is a portrayal of the goddess Hathor, the turquoise green face perhaps reflecting her role as the nurturer of mankind. In the New Kingdom she is sometimes shown in a tree, cf. especially one of her titles at Memphis in the Late Period as "Hathor under her Moringa (sycamore) tree"
