cover 1896 (9 Jun.) registered XU5 from Bulawayo addressed to Baden, bearing on the front a fine 4d. pair and on the reverse a fine 2d. and a damaged 1892-94 ½d., paying 6½d. postage and 4d. registration, the stamps on the reverse uncancelled in Matabeleland and so cancelled in Germany; accompanied by the original enclosure, a superb letter written in German on Central Hotel, Buluwayo (sic) headed paper giving details of the writer's (a mining prospector) escape from Selukwe and trip to Bulawayo.
