The success of the Alec Issigonis design is so well known there is no need to repeat it here. The Mini is an outstanding contribution to automotive history.

This example has an interesting early history, the first owner reputedly being the actor Jack Hawkins. A copy of the first log book shows the car first being registered in February 1967 at Westmead Lodge, Putney, SW5 and moving to the Penthouse, Ennismore Gardens in 1970. The engine fitted is not original to the vehicle, but is the correct 848cc specification which gave 34bhp at 5,500rpm and was used in the Mini Minor from 1959 until 1967.

The present owner has not owned the vehicle for very long and states that the engine and gearbox were rebuilt a few years ago. In his ownership he has undertaken a complete body rebuild and respray which will be completed only shortly before the auction. New parts include, front wings, A panels and a new front panel and valance. The interior is said to be in a very good condition and the vehicle comes with a current MoT certificate.
