Lot Essay

Resa was a calligrapher at the Ottoman court under Sultan Abdulhamid.
The hadith is particularly apposite, and must have been written for the court. It translates,'the stability of a country is with justice', while the panels above and below read 'the day when a Sultan does justice is as good as sixty years of worshipping', and 'respect and venerate the Sultans as they are the honour and shadow of God on earth'. The smaller side panels say the the other inscriptions are the sayings of the prophet who always spoke the truth.
