A GILT-METAL-MOUNTED BERLIN PORCELAIN BOTTLE IN THE FORM OF AN EGG, with a stopper modelled as an elaborate gilt crown moulded on each side with alternating white eagles and crosses and with a strapwork, orb and cross finial, the body painted en grisaille with a portrait of a soldier, three-quarter length, wearing a bicorn hat, cape and uniform, within a gilt scroll cartouche, the shoulder painted with blue scale-pattern edged with scrolls and meandering foliage (restoration to finial), circa 1860
