Lot Essay

Adrien Etienne Gaudez (1845-1902) was born in Lyons and died at Neuilly. He studied under Jouffroy and began exhibiting at the Salon in 1864, winning a third class medal that year and a first class medal in 1881. He specialised in monuments and large groups of statuary, but also sculpted portrait reliefs and busts.
