While collector for the District of Dacon 1803-18 he overlapped George Chinnery's stay there from 1808 until 1811 and received lessons from him, although most if not all of his works in ths album date from his period as Opium Agent at Palma, 1821-31. The watercolours include views in India and seapieces; also a small ful-length portrait of an Indian woman. The engravings include a sequence of hunting scenes involving large brown bear, hog, Indian Carp, tigers and ducks dated variously in September 1829 and September and October 1830, three drawing of a suttee in the District of Burdwan, and a portrait of 'Khajee Wullee Mahomud/Soubadar Major of the Governor's Body Guard'; all of these were painted at d'Oyly's Behar Lithographic Press. There are also three lithographs of exotic birds after Christopher Wil-Smith, and a landscape 'Near Chittore' after an outline sketch by Chinnery.
