A LARGE EDWARDIAN SILVER-GILT CENTREPIECE, the shaped-oblong base on six foliate scroll feet and with shell and foliage scroll borders, six scroll branches, each terminating in shell-shaped dish and central domed plinth with detachable two-handled partly-fluted shaped-circular dish on four anthemion and scroll feet and with baluster stem, leaf-capped scroll handles and shaped rim, the base engraved with presentation inscription, scenes and a coat-of-arms, the dish with crest, motto and monogram, by John Bodman Carrington, 1904

The inscription reads 'PRESENTED TO W. HARRISON CRIPPS F.R.C.S. TOGETHER WITH THREE THOUSAND GUINEAS BY THE DIRECTORS & SHAREHOLDERS OF THE METROPOLITAN ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY AS A MARK OF THEIR APPRECIATION OF HIS VALUABLE SERVICES AS CHAIRMAN DURING THE ARBITRATIONS WITH THE LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL & THE BORORUGH COUNCIL OF MARYLEBONE 1899-1904'
