ONLY EDITION, limited to 150 copies, of which this is no. 21. One of the finest private-library catalogues published in this century. At the end of the Great War Haebler, historian of Iberian printing and early bookbinding, and prime mover of the Kommission für den Gesamtkatalog der Wiegendrucke, was forced into mandatory retirement from his library position. He used the time to finish his most important work, Typenrepertorium der Wiegendrucke (1905-24), and write Handbuch der Inkunabelkunde (1925), as well as compiling this lavishly produced catalogue of the Klemperer Collection of early printed books. After the bombing of Dresden bibliographers lost sight of the collection until a small group of its incunabula found its way onto the market in the wake of the reunification of the Germanies; the major position has still not resurfaced, and Haebler's catalogue remains the indispensable record.
