Lot Essay

Although only a small number of these figures were made in Chinese porcelain, the models very closely copy Meissen originals of the 1750's; the Chinese versions appear to be enamelled in a variety of colours. Compare the pair, with a Meissen original of the girl, from the Mottahedeh Collection, illustrated by D. Howard and J. Ayers, op.cit., no.649, p.619; a similar boy and pair of girls are in the Hodroff Collection, illustrated by David S. Howard, op.cit., 1994, nos. 304 and 305.
