Lot Essay

The Mauritspoort, also known as the Oostpoort or Grenadierspoort, was built by Joris Cornelisz. Faes in 1633-4. The Plein before it was the cabbage field of the Courts of Holland before being developed. The Binnenhof housed local government offices and the Mauritshuis stands behind the gap in the buildings on the right, just out of view
