Giusti Maccari, loc. cit., tentatively dates the present picture c.1650. A badly damaged copy or replica is in the parish church at Tereglio, Val di Serchio, which also houses a variant in which the infant Baptist and Saint Joseph are omitted and Saint Catherine's attributes have been changed to transform her into Saint Rosalia (ibid., pp. 142-4, no. 64 and fig. 62, colour)
