18.5 x 28 cm.
Inscribed in Balinese with the artist's name on the reverse, also inscribed by Bateson: 'Going to Senakan (sic.) 6th picture fr. a series by Goenaksa bought fr. Neuhaus'.
During the festival of Kuningan the people of South Bali used to make a pilgrimage by boat to the temple of Sanekan on the island of Serangan. Westerners are depicted among the native company.
To be illustrated in a forthcoming book by Dr. A. Vickers: Balinese Painting; Mementoes, Diversions, Masterworks (1928-1942), (Pepin Press).
