Lot Essay

A 1/12 scale drawing for Mackintosh's own dining table made in 1900 for his flat at 120 Mains Street, Glasgow. A manuscript note in Mackintosh's hand indicates that he also wanted a square table which could be used to extend the main dining table, a device also used in the hall tables at Windyhill [see following lot]. It is not known whether the smaller square table was ever made.
