Lot Essay

The 28mm. safety film format was always more popular as a projection medium than for shooting films. Pathé adopted this format for one model only which proved to be more successful than this Butcher camera. However, 35mm. remained the professional format for making films and 28mm. cinematographic cameras are rare.
This model was made only for the American market, supplied by W. Butcher & Sons for The American Pathescope Company and manufactured at the Williamson factory in Willesden, London.
