Lot Essay

28mm. film was introduced by Pathé in 1912 as the first sucessful safety film for home, industrial and educational use. For projection a 'mixed perforation' arrangement was used so that the film could not be shown back to front or out of frame; however, regular perforations were normally used for filming. This camera uses the classic Pathé claw movement which evolved from the Lumière's Cinématographe.
