Lot Essay
Edward Chow and Helen Ling were both internationally known dealers collectors of Chinese Ceramics. Chow began collecting as a teenager in Shanghai in the 1920s. Ling, born in Ohio, became a well-respected dealer and collector in China and Singapore. The two-volume set, Hall of Disciplined Learning, illustrates ceramics collected by E.T. Chow. The two-volume set, Hall of Leisurely Pastime, illustrates ceramics from the collection of M.C. Wang, a banker in pre-war China. Most of the important Song ceramics in the M.C. Wang collection are now in the Cleveland Museum of Art.
