He made his debut for Manchester United on 7th January 1989 against Queen's Park Rangers and played with the club for four seasons and made a total of 69 appearances scoring 17 goals before being transferred to Norwich City in August 1992. The 1989-90 F.A.Cup final was decided on a replay, after the first match played between Manchester United and Crystal Palace on 12th May 1990 at Wembley ended in a 3-3 draw. In the replay match played on 17th May again at Wembley, Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 1-0.
Robins was in integral part of the Manchester United cup run this season. Goals against Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and his dramatic extra-time winner against Oldham Athletic in the semi-final helped see United through to the F.A.Cup final. His appearance in the final was as a substitute after he replaced Gary Pallister. He was a non-playing substitute in the replay
