Lot Essay

The inscription is a copy of the Ardebil inscription which is not fully literate. Another very similar carpet of Ardebil desigh was sold in these rooms 3 May 2001, lot 180, whose inscription interestingly said that it had been made in Agra. With the exception of this however, both carpets have all the features of weavings normally attributed to Amritzar.
