A SAXON COMBINED MINER'S GUILD AXE AND WALKING-STICK with small brass head comprising blade with angular front spike pierced at the base and with separate acorn-shaped finial, both sides engraved with mining scenes and set with a bronze medallion engraved with the arms of Saxony and the standing figure of a miner, and with faceted socket and silver-capped peen, on long wooden staff of circular section with brass reinforcing ring and iron spike at the bottom, the upper section formed of sections of bone engraved with mining scenes each within an inscription, a crucifix flanked by kneeling figures, a crossed pick and hammer, the arms of Saxony, and the date 1723
