A SWORD in 17th Century style, the tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section with central fuller on each face of the forte, iron hilt with slender vertically-recurved quillons and oval side-rings, both faceted, upturned scallop-shaped shell, ovoidal pommel, and wire-bound grip; and a small-sword with blade of hollow triangular section etched at the forte with a trophy of arms and foliage, the steel hilt pierced and chiselled with conventional foliage, and later wooden grip, mid-18th Century, probably French
