A COMPOSITE CUIRASSIER THREE-QUARTER ARMOUR of steel, comprising close-helmet with ring finial and ovoidal ribbed two-piece skull with tubular iron plume-pipe at the rear, pointed fall, and upper- and lower-bevors all pivoted at the same points, the upper-bevor pierced with two panels of circular and star-shaped breaths, and with rounded upper-edge (repaired), pivot-hook catch on one side, three neck-plates at front and rear, gorget of two plates, pauldrons and full arm defences of cusped lames and including fingered gauntlets (some finger-plates and one thumb-defence detached) with large flared cuffs, breast- and back-plate, culet of five upward-lapping cusped lames held by a wing-nut, and long knee-length tassets each of twenty-three upward-lapping cusped lames, the main edges with double line engraving and turned borders partly roped, and brass-headed rivets throughout (rust patinated overall), early 17th Century
