2° (423 x 260mm). Hand-coloured engraved folding route map, 2pp. advertisements; contents, engraved plan of Lyons in two states (plain and coloured), 25 AQUATINT PLATES, EACH IN TWO STATES, plain (bistre) and coloured, by the author. (Some spotting and marginal soiling, text browned, clean tear to lower margin of text leaf K2 not affecting text.) Later half calf (lower joint split).

A rare copy of the second edition, with the plates in two states. Each is numbered and has an imprint, but with the exception of no. 12 (here, as in Abbey, bound after no. 2) none have titles. The first edition of the work was published in 1800. Albanis de Beaumont was an antiquiary and agronomist who, whilst working in Nice, met the Duke of Gloucester and accompanied him on his travels in Switzerland, Italy, France and England, and published several books on his journeys through the Alps. Cf. Abbey Travel 53 (1800 edition).
