Lot Essay

Little Wonder, by Muley out of Lacerta was foaled in 1837, bred by Mr. David Robertson and trained by William Forth. In 1840 he won the Derby at the long odds of 50-1 from a field of seventeen, with W. Macdonald as his jockey. The race was the only Derby attended by Queen Victoria.
