oil on canvas, in an interior with a tiled floor, the youth, wearing a red tunic with embroidered lining and sash and a red and white turban with embroidered trim, sits against a gold and floral covered cushion with one hand at his waist, the other resting on his knee, a white cat, an apple and a bowl of plums sit on the ground before him, (slight restoration, from an arched panel, upper corners added), framed

This portrait is very close to a an engraving depicting Lutf 'Ali Khan Zand that is reproduced in Sykes, P.M.:History of Persia, London 1915, Vol II, originally produced as the frontispiece for Herford Jones' records of his time as British Envoy to Iran.
