cover 1917 (1 Sept.) overprinted with five-pointed Star on Pictorial design, 2a. on 1pi. bright blue, and overprinted with six-pointed Star and Arabic date within Crescent, 1a. on 20pa. rose, both tied by Baghdad double-ring c.d.s. on local 1917 (11 Sept.) addressed to "Lieut. Roffey, General Head Quarters, Baghdad", showing red Censor cachet and, on reverse, F.P.O. No. 55 c.d.s.; both stamps with small splits which do not affect the fine appearance. The 2a. is one of the rarest of all Baghdad issues, only 59 were prepared for use. Photo in colour.
