Shaped-oval and with gadrooned borders and detachable shell handles, the covers engraved twice with a a coat-of-arms, the bases twice with a crest, marked on bases covers and handles - 13in. (33cm.)

The arms are those of Davenport impaling Sneyd for Davies Davenport Esq. (1778-1837) of Woodford, Marton, Calveley and Capesthorne and his wife Charlotte, daughter of Ralph Sneyd Esq. of Keele, Co. Stafford. He was High Sherrif of Cheshire in 1783 and was M.P. from 1806 until his retirment in 1830 (4)
