The old label on the reverse of this portrait identifies the sitter as Maria Elizabeth, the seventh child of Thomas Langford Brooke and his wife Maria, daughter of the Rev. Sir Thomas Delves Broughton and his wife Mary, daughter of John Wickes of Horsham.
She married Meyrick Holme Bankes of Winstanley Hall, Wigan.
