MANGLARD, Adriano. Raccolta di vedute, e composizioni diverse inventate... in 32 rame. A sua eccellenza l'Onorabile George Agar Ellis. Rome: Luigi Fabri, [circa 1820].
Oblong 2° (316 x 435mm). Engraved title with vignette, 32 etched plates by Manglard. Modern morocco-backed boards gilt.
A collection of lively plates: 19 of landscapes and views, some imaginary, others of identified locations in and around Rome, and 13 of shipping. Most of the plates are dated 1754 or 1755 and the first plate is sub-titled Diverse Compositioni, e Vedute inventate ed intagliate da Adriano Manglard in Roma l'an 1753, however the dedication to George Agar Ellis would seem to fix the date of publication at about 1820: he was the eldest son of Henry, 2nd Viscount Clifden, was born in 1797, married Lady Georgiana Howard in 1822, and died, before inheriting the title, in 1833. A further edition was published by the Vatican Press in about 1830.
