Lot Essay

This table à écrire is closely related to a table à ambulante stamped F. Schey, from the collection of Mrs James Cromwell, sold Christie's New York, 22 November 1983, lot 142. Fidelys Schey, maître in 1777, is known to have supplied tables à jeux to the château de Fontainebleau in 1786. This table possibly formed part of the 1786 delivery
