TWO PARIS PLATES painted by Margaret Mercer Elphinstone, one with a shepherd and his dog before a flock of sheep in a stormy landscape, the other with two dead partridges and a snipe resting on a ledge, within gilt line panels, the borders gilt with foliage, scrolls, diaper-pattern and dots within dentil rims (the first with short hair crack, rubbing to wells), the first inscribed in sepia, the second in iron-red M M Elphinstone, circa 1815
