Lot Essay

Thomas Mercer were prolific chronometer makers to both the Admiralty and to the Mercantile Marines of many nations.
Accompanying this chronometer is its original Rating certificate dated 11 June 1979 signed by F.A. (Tony) Mercer the then Chairman of the company. In addition there is the chronometer Workshop Progress Report which lists and is signed by each of the Thomas Mercer craftsman who took part in making this chronometer which is shown as "No.4" in the Greenwich edition
