This 'pouf a cordes' from the collection of Baron Mayer Amschel de Rothschild was sold by Sotheby, Mentmore House Sale, 18 May 1977, lot 10. A related stool by A-M-E. Fournier, upholsterer, established in the Boulevard Beaumarchais in 1850, is at the Chateau de Compiegne and is illustrated H. Hayward, World Furniture, London, 1965, pl. 928.
