Lot Essay

Jean-Paul Aubé (d.1920) was a pupil of Duret at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts before leaving to study decorative sculpture in Italy. Exhibiting at the Salon from 1861, he was also to win various medals at the Expositions Universelles during the last quarter of the 19th century, becoming an Officer of the Legion D'Honneur
