Lot Essay

Greek by birth, Marie Cassavetti-Zambacco studied in London under Burne-Jones and later in Paris became a pupil of Alphonse Legros and Auguste Rodin. She exhibited both at the Royal Academy and at the Paris Salon and won bronze medals at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 and 1900.
