A GILT-METAL-MOUNTED SÈVRES-PATTERN DARK-BLUE-GROUND LARGE OVIFORM VASE AND COVER painted by Chafreps(?) in a soft palette with a maiden wearing transparent lilac drapery floating through continuous mist with three cherubs, two tugging at her robes and one adorning her with a star diadem, the reverse similarly painted with two cherubs and a dove, the flared neck, cover and spreading foot richly gilt with interlaced symmetrical foliage, scrolls, diaper and key-patterns enriched with turquoise and white 'jewels', mounted with a pinecone finial, two double foliage handles with two seated putti on reeded columns applied with acanthus, with a ring of leaves encircling the lower body and on a shaped square base applied with acanthus (some crazing to glaze), indistinct signature, imitation blue interlaced L and France marks, circa 1900
