Chave is not only the oldest family in Hermitage - they have been in production since the fifteenth century - but is also consistently amongst the finest. Fully ripe, late (as late as he can risk) picked grapes vinified in a totally traditional manner produce wines of rare depth, complexity and concetration. In great vintages they can offer virtually timeless ageing potential
