A ROMAN LEAD COFFIN, with arched lid, each side decorated in high relief with columns above a frieze of scrolling foliage and supporting a frieze of myrtle leaves, between each column a panel containing alternately a sphinx with foliage and a Medusa mask with dolphins, one end decorated with a temple facade, the other with a cruciform motif, the lid with undulating foliage, dolphins and myrils, circa 3rd century A.D.
