inscribed 'ET NOVA LANIFICA/SVBTEXUNTFILASOL' and with inscription 'La Societa Lanifici'; black chalk, grey wash, white and yellow bodycolour 409 x 249mm.

Lot Essay

Mary Newcome Schleier has kindly confirmed the attribution. David worked extensively for Giacomo Durazzo (1717-1794), who had been the Venetian ambassador in Vienna and upon his return to Italy acted as the envoy of the Emperor Joseph II of the Republic of Venice
