A SUMERIAN SHELL PLAQUE, of rectangular form with incised decoration, showing the flaring calf-length robe of a figure to the left, holding a branch in his hand and offering it to a ram, which stands upright on its hind legs to reach the branch with its mouth, its thick fleece indicated with incision, the background decorated with interconnecting dotted fan-motifs within cross-hatching, mid-3rd millennium B.C.
