AN AUSTRIAN NINE-LIGHT SILVER CANDELABRUM
Late 19th century, maker's mark possibly that of Gedlicka & Sohne
The stem formed as a fully modeled seated maiden holding an open book awaiting her suitor who is approaching with outstretched arm, on naturalistic ground on spreading molded oblong base, each side with open trelliswork panel enclosed by elaborate applied foliage, with two cartouches, the stem remainder baluster and issuing central screw-in central foliate branch supporting foliate urn form nozzle atop foliate wax-pan, flanked by four bifurcated conforming arms with conforming lights--20in. (50.8cm.) high, 140oz.
