Note: This article appeared in the Long Island Gazette for May and is quoted at length by Fred J. Melville in "War Stamps of Salonika and Long Island", pages 31, 32 and 34. The article gives details of plates, sheets and quantities. The watermark, largely because of this article, has always been recorded as "SILVER LINEN" but it is clearly "Silver Linen" in double-lined letters.
