A NEEDLEWORK PICTURE worked with an allegory of the sense of smell with a seated woman holding a spray of flowers and a basket of fruit, the basket worked in beadwork, her dress worked in buttonhole stitch, the reserves embroidered and applied with spot motifs of a unicorn, a camel, a lion and a leopard, birds, butterflies and insects and sprays of flowers with some raised work, English, mid 17th Century, framed and glazed -- 12 x 16in.
