A FRENCH ROYAL MEMORIAL RING

The broad band engraved with forget-me-nots, husks and a rose on pale green enamel ground between chased flower and foliage rims, with small hinged compartment containing a lock of hair, circa 1820, in tooled red leather presentation case with crown and initials M.A. on the cover and plaque reading 'Cheveux de la Reine' in the fitted interior, finger size P

The 'Cheveux de la Reine' refers to Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793) and the initials M.A. on the cover are those of Queen Marie-Amélie (1782-1866) her niece and wife of Louis Philippe (1773-1850)
