AN EARLY QAJAR DAMASCENED STEEL HELMET (khula khud) AND SHIELD (dhal), the helmet of domed form rising to a faceted spike, with separate adjustable noseguard, plume holders and mail skirt, the surface plain save for two moulded suns' faces with damascened details and rays, a lower narrow inscription and floral cartouche border, the noseguard and spike with floral gold damasceneing, the shield with similar central sun's face with radiating rays flanked by flour bosses with damascening, in a border of silver damascened inscription cartouches altenating with animal quatrefoils within simple gold floral meander border, early 19th century (slight rubbing)
