A SYRIAN POTTERY BOWL rising in conical form from the short foot to the slightly inverted vertical sides and 'T' section rim, the interior painted in black, cobalt-blue and turquoise with eight radiating segments divided by broad cobalt-blue and turquoise lines, the segments containing blue scrolling and knotted motifs on a black scrolling ground alternating with panels of black narrow arabesque segments leading up to stylised kufic calligraphic cartouches, the rim with simple black hatching between blue lines, the exterior with a band of stylised kufic calligraphy on black scrolling ground above radiating paired black and blue stripes, 14th century (single repaired break)
